More about the Eastern Sierra Region

The Eastern Sierra has excited scientists and naturalists, stimulated artists and writers, and attracted those with a passion for the outdoors since the 1920's. A rich human and geological history, the unique intermingling of Great Basin and alpine environments and an environment conducive to creativity, make the Eastern Sierra a wonderful place to gain an education. Plato, given the opportunity, would have developed his Academy in this "land born of ice and sculptured by fire".

The Eastern Sierra College Center offers the communities within the Inyo and Mono Counties a comprehensive educational program, including courses for: transfer, general interest, general education, and occupational programs. Students within the communities of Mammoth Lakes, Bishop, Big Pine, Lone Pine, Independence, and Death Valley (as well as other locations) may enroll in day, evening and on-line classes. College centers are maintained in the communities of Bishop and Mammoth Lakes.

ESCC faculty members came to the Eastern Sierra for many of the same reasons as the early settlers, and those whom have since made this majestic area their home. ESCC Faculty are dedicated educators with a passion for their subject matter, their students and for the Eastern Sierra. Faculty members display their dedication to student success (and their acknowledgment of the potential distractions of the outdoor environment—hiking, snowboarding...) by delivering quality interactive instruction in structured class settings.
